Orthodontic Treatment
Jaw correction orthodontics addresses problems like overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite that affect both the appearance and function of your smile. Proper jaw alignment improves chewing, speech, and prevents premature tooth wear.
Patients of any age with significant bite discrepancies. Early treatment in growing children gives the best results. Adults may require orthodontics in combination with surgical consultation for severe cases.
Treatment varies widely by case – from simple braces with elastics to specialized appliances. Dr. Shah will explain the recommended approach after a thorough assessment.
Can jaw problems be fixed with braces alone?
Many bite problems — overbite, underbite, crossbite — can be significantly improved with orthodontic treatment alone, especially in growing children. Severe skeletal issues in adults may require surgical consultation in addition to braces.
What is the difference between a bite problem and crowding?
Crowding refers to teeth not having enough space and overlapping. Bite problems (malocclusion) refer to how the upper and lower teeth meet when you close your mouth. Some patients have both; others have one or the other.
