Orthodontic Treatment

Early Orthodontic Treatment

Early orthodontic treatment, also called Phase 1 treatment, addresses jaw development issues and tooth positioning problems in children before all permanent teeth have erupted. Treating early can reduce the need for extensive treatment later.

Duration: 6 – 18 months for Phase 1; full treatment assessed later
Cost: ₹15,000 – ₹35,000 for Phase 1 (placeholder)

Who Is This For?

Children aged 7–12 showing signs of crowding, crossbite, protruding teeth, thumb-sucking habits, or jaw growth discrepancies. The Indian Orthodontic Society recommends a first ortho check by age 7.

What to Expect

Dr. Shah will assess your child's teeth and jaw development. Treatment may include expanders, partial braces, or simple appliances. A second phase of full braces may still be needed after all permanent teeth erupt.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age should my child first see an orthodontist?

The Indian Orthodontic Society recommends a first orthodontic assessment by age 7. This doesn't mean treatment starts at 7 — it's an assessment to catch any early issues.

Will my child definitely need full braces after early treatment?

Not necessarily. Some children complete Phase 1 early treatment and have excellent development thereafter. Others may need a second phase of full braces — Dr. Shah will monitor and advise.

Is early orthodontic treatment painful for children?

Appliances used in early treatment are generally very well tolerated by children. There may be mild initial discomfort, which passes quickly.
